The Pre-Season Prep Bowl Kick-off Classic Committee with the cooperation of Soldier Field and the Chicago Park District will present a high school football extravaganza on Friday, August 28th at Soldier Field. I
This year’s contests will feature Chicago Catholic League Power Chicago St. Rita against Pennsylvania Power House Malvern Prep in the first game starting at 4:00pm. In the evening game Chicago Catholic League Power and 2014 State Semi Finalist, Chicago Mt. Carmel will face South Side Rival and East Suburban Catholic powerhouse Chicago Marist at 7:00pm. This will only be the third time these neighborhood rivals have ever met on the football field.
The Preseason Prep Bowl was developed to offer Chicago Area teams the opportunity to play in the historic Soldier Field. This historic venue is the home of the Chicago Bears has hosted high school football games since it opened in 1924. Many corporate sponsors have stepped up to help put on this event such as Nike, Coca Cola, and the Chicago Bears Football Club and The Chicago Tribune. Several organizations have also assisted as well as the Central Officials Association, Chicago Catholic League, Chicago Public League, the Chicago Park District and the Cook County Sheriffs Department.
“Our goal is to give the opportunity of playing in Soldier Field to Chicago area student athletes while giving their families and high school football fans across the metropolitan area an opportunity to see quality football games and experience the thrill of being in Soldier Field ” said Frank Lenti. “These games are a result of a collaboration of efforts between the Chicago Catholic League, Chicago Park District and Tim LeFevour, the General Manager of Soldier Field. We have also had great support from the staff of SMG, Mike Kelly of the Chicago Park District, as well as Mayor Emanuel”.
Tickets for the games will be available at the participating schools as well as available at the gate.
